Getting Started
Run safe message actions, inspect their outcomes, and deliberately release a captured message through a verified sending domain.
Email Testing actions let you exercise links and message workflows against a captured message. Submit every action, including Release, to POST /messages/{id}/actions with a type and optional data. Requests return 202 Accepted; actions move through queued, running, succeeded, or failed. Use List Actions and Get Action to inspect the result.
Action types
The supported action types are open, click, unsubscribe, reply, arf, ooo, and release.
openfetches remote images in the message.clickfollows links selected by URL or the stable entries returned by List Links.unsubscribefollows the message's unsubscribe target.reply,arf, andooosend messages from Maileroo and take nodatafields. Maileroo builds the recipient, subject, and body from the captured message. A reply goes to the single address in the originalFromheader;arfgoes to the abuse contact looked up for the message's source IP;ooogoes to the original envelope sender (Return-Path). A reply requires one validFromaddress, and an out-of-office response cannot be sent for a null reverse-path.
For example, use data.links to click every link:
{
"type": "click",
"data": {
"links": "all"
}
}For open, click, unsubscribe, reply, arf, and ooo requests, an Idempotency-Key header makes retries safe: the same key and request returns the existing action, while reusing the key with a different request is rejected.
Release
Release uses the same Run Action endpoint as other actions:
{
"type": "release",
"data": {
"domain_id": 123,
"to": "[email protected]"
}
}Choose an eligible non-sandbox domain with verified DKIM and SPF from List Release Domains. Maileroo sends the released message through SMTP Relay, and it counts toward the account's normal sending quota. The From address uses the original sender's local part at the selected domain, or eight random lowercase hexadecimal characters when no original From address is available. A release returns 202 Accepted and each account is limited to 50 releases per hour.
