Maileroo can handle unsubscribes for you, so recipients can easily opt out of receiving future emails without you having to build your own unsubscribe system.
Adding an unsubscribe link
Simply add the {{ unsubscribe_url }} placeholder to a link in the HTML body of your email:
<a href="{{ unsubscribe_url }}">Unsubscribe</a>When the email is sent, Maileroo automatically replaces the placeholder with a unique unsubscribe URL for that recipient.
A few things to keep in mind
The unsubscribe placeholder is only replaced in the HTML version of your email. If your email also includes a plain-text version, don't include {{ unsubscribe_url }} there as Maileroo won't replace it.
The email must also have exactly one envelope recipient (RCPT TO) for the unsubscribe URL to be generated.
This applies to the envelope recipient, not the To header. If you're sending one email to multiple envelope recipients, Maileroo won't replace the placeholder. In this case, send each recipient their own email.
What happens after someone unsubscribes?
When a recipient clicks the unsubscribe link, Maileroo automatically adds their email address to your suppression list, along with the reason and the date and time they unsubscribed.
From that point on, Maileroo will automatically block future emails sent to that address.
This means you don't need to build and maintain your own unsubscribe handling. Maileroo takes care of it for you.
